I've been friends with Haley for a couple of years now. When we met, we both had missionaries and we were waiting for their return. Jared was in England, and I heard about him frequently. Now that he's returned just a bit ago, they're getting married! In August. Which means it's crunch time for them, similarly to how it was for when Doug and I were getting married. I had the opportunity to take their engagement pictures. Jared actually proposed officially in the middle of the shoot, and it was the most adorable thing! These two are ridiculously cute. This is just a sneak peek, but I'll post some more later. Congrats Haley and Jared!

What Am I Doing?!
I had a complete mental breakdown this week trying to figure out what I want to do with my fetching life.
Seriously, it's awful being in limbo like this.
I think I know what I want to do and then I start and then I run out of determination 20 minutes in.
It's awesome.
My options this week have been:
Mother
W R I T E R
photographer
Editor
marriage and family therapist
.....
And a whole list of other things, but those were thrown out almost immediately.
Like Scuba Diver. Or government agent.
These ones listed above actually stuck around for some small amount of time.
But I'm back at square one again.
Honestly, I wish I was just awesome enough to be a stay at home mom who wrote novels and edited them and photographed her cover art so I can manipulate it in post.
If only I were that cool.
I want to do these things, but I don't know how to get the determination to do so.
Or the confidence in myself that actually says, "You can do it, self!"
and "I believe in you!"
Because, well... I don't.
I'm going to have a pity fest now:
I don't think I'm much of a photographer.
I don't think I'm good at writing fiction (though I do love it and pretend I am).
I don't know how I'd fare as a psychologist.
I don't think I need schooling to edit things.
I don't know that I'd be that great of a mother.
(Honestly, the thought terrifies me and excites me all at once.)
And I don't know how to change any of that.
Sigh. Maybe one day I'll actually figure out what I'm to do with my life.
After all, I want to get some kind of fulfillment out of living.
Is that really too much to ask, cyber space?

camera.
It's been decided.
Basically whenever I go anywhere, my camera will be following me.
I'm tired of not having pictures of things that I want later.
And I'm sick of not using my camera much these days.
I miss everything about it.
Pictures, pictures, pictures.
There will be lots of them.

It Starts... (Name That Movie)
Now is the time to start yet another blog because the biggest step I've ever taken in life, and will ever take, has finally been taken. I married my best friend. My name is finally Heather Johnson and that is one of he best things that has ever happened to me. One of the best? I correct myself; the best. And honestly, I love every minute of it. Every single minute of it.
It's been exactly a month now and it's been amazing. I'm the happiest I've been... well, ever. And that's saying something.
It really was the best day of my life. Everything about it was perfect. Even the fact that I left his ring at home as well as all my jewelry... But I digress.
I didn't wake up ridiculously early that morning. I slept like a baby. I'm not sure why people always say that they can't sleep the night before they get married. Are you really that unsure of yourself that you can't sleep from worry? Or is it that you're that excited? I don't know, either way, that's not my character at all. Kinda how I didn't really have a major freak out when Doug was coming home from his mission. Or when we got engaged. Or... well, for this either. I'm just not like that. Also, I don't understand the phrase, "slept like a baby"... I thought babies sleep rather poorly at night and wake up every few hours pleading for food? To use the term as sleeping good really makes no sense. But again, I digress...
As I was saying, I woke up at a pretty decent hour and started getting ready. Doug was coming over at 10 am to pick me up so we could drive up to Draper together. I had about 2 1/2 hours to get ready, do my hair, my make up etc. And then 9:30 rolled around, I'm standing around in hardly anything at all when Doug shows up. Hmm, that was interesting :P Hair isn't quite done, in fact it looked like a disaster as it was everywhere, but hey. He's marrying me right? He better get used to it!
So I hurried and got ready. And then we drove... and drove. Until I realized I had to pick something up at Hobby Lobby. So we stopped, and then were off again. And then there were flower issues... And I didn't even care. I was just grinning ear to ear.
We finally got up there and that's when I realized it. I left the ring at home. I left my necklace and bracelet and earrings at home. I left all my pretties at home! So I quickly called my brother, and asked if he could kindly bring those up for me. Gratefully, Mike being the wonderful brother he is, brought it up, and Liz brought it in to the bride's room for me. Sigh. Yup, I felt lame. But I wasn't freaking out... which is weird. But hey, less stress is better anyway.
And then, I got ready. I went out the door and met Doug. We talked to the man sealing us so he could get to know us better and it was wonderful. And then we were able to just sit there together for a few minutes. Together, for the last time apart. Because in a few minutes, we were going to be married. And that was the most amazing thing I'd ever experienced.
For those who know me well, I'm not a crier. At least, not in public. Doug's seen me cry loads of times, but that's different. I don't show emotions like excited with tears, or nervousness, or relief. That's not my personality. But if it's spiritually related, I will be in tears in no time. And this wasn't any different. I didn't cry tons, but there were tears. After all, finally marrying Doug really has been the happiest moment of my life.
Once again, it was time to get ready to go outside and be revealed... Oooo. So I changed, and somehow got ready before Doug did. Hahaha! That made me laugh. He took at least another 5 minutes after I came out and was waiting in the lobby. Finally, we were able to leave, and we went out the temple doors. Hello paparazzi. Cameras everywhere.
Saren, my sister in-law, took pictures for a super long time. But they'll be totally worth it. That first one up there is one she did :) She's an amazing photographer, if you wanted to know. And for the record, is located here: Wren's Flight Photography.
Pictures with family is always a must...
Anyway, it was great to get pictures with Kristen and Christopher because I loves them and they are fabulous friends ^_^
Also, we can't forget Adamchik and Tysonchik (don't ask why I'm using Russian endings on their names. Don't even worry about it). Because who doesn't appreciate some missionary buddy loving?
Moving on! After taking pictures, a million I swear (well, between my Saren, Kristen and my dad anyway), we went to change again back into church clothes so we could go to the luncheon and eat. Mmm, tasty Brick Oven Pizza and salad :D It was awesome to see my loverly friends there (I just realized I'm pretty sure I have no pictures with them... epic fail). Oh well, they were still there and I love them anyway :)
Blah, blah, blah, I found out we didn't actually have any music for the wedding, blah blah, I had a minor freak out and then Christopher saved my life. Ok, maybe just my wedding reception, but he still saved it. One of the awesome things and great perks about having a brilliant pianist as a friend who can play basically anything you request by ear, is that he can do just that. Christopher offered up his services and I had a lovely live pianist all night and it was awesome! ^_^
As you can see, I've forwarded everything to the reception. Which was great, by the way. If you missed it, well that's just a bummer for you :P I got to see a lot of people that I hadn't seen in a while. Though, the saddest was not being able to see the Frey's. I miss Jon and Kristin and their family so much. I really need to take a trip up to South Dakota sometime really soon. But again, I digress... (how many times are you allowed to say that in a single post? Oh well, that's 3.)
My favorite part was either the awesome cake smashing in face fest or the dance. Probably the dance, though, because Adam played one of the songs he wrote for us to dance to and it was adorable :D
Anyway, this post is probably pretty scatterbrained, but what can I say? That day was pretty intense. I loved all of it, though. Ok, I got annoyed once, but we won't get into that. :P The point is, I'm married. I've started my eternity and I am going to love as much of it as I can. I'm excited for the good times, and even the bad because they'll make me stronger and bring me closer to God, Christ and Doug and that will make all the difference in the world.
I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always.
